Celebrating God Together
HOLY SEASONS
The liturgical calendar orients time to faith. With each feast or season, we remember Jesus and the way He meets with us in both the past and in the present. Click on the Holy Season below for resources to celebrate with your family, your community, or on your own.
January 6 is Epiphany, a feast day that derives its name from a Greek word meaning "appear" or "manifest." On this day, believers celebrate the arrival of the Magi, the baptism of Jesus, and His first miracle.
The liturgical season of Lent begins on Ash Wednesday and continues for 40 days. In this time, believers prepare their hearts for Easter by fasting, praying, and giving.
During Lent, we take a special pause to honor the last week of Jesus's life. The resources on this page include a Christian Passover seder, Good Friday materials, and an examen for Holy Saturday.
Perhaps because it is both the greatest gift and greatest mystery of the Christian faith, the liturgical calendar takes 50 days to celebrate Jesus's resurrection and presence with us.
Ordinary Time
These are, as one children's Bible teacher used to say, the "great green growing days." In these days, we partner in the long, steady, slow work of the patient kingdom of God.
With Christmas on the horizon, we turn our eyes toward the manger. With four weeks orienting around hope, peace, joy, and love, we allow ourselves to long and wait for the arrival of Christ.
